Sacramento Japantown: Destroyed by Design

We are thrilled to share a preview of artist Karen Tsugawa’s design for our upcoming exhibit at the Sacramento History Museum. 

Once a vibrant downtown community, Japantown was devastated by the unjust incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II and later by redevelopment that erased much of the neighborhood.

Karen’s design creates an immersive experience featuring Japan Alley facades, artifacts, videos, and personal stories from Japantown descendants.
We invite you to support this important project by making a tax-deductible donation.

Your contribution will help fund the construction and installation of the exhibit, as well as community programming, a fall festival, live entertainment, cultural demonstrations, civil rights activities, and hands-on experiences for all ages.
